DIRT TRIAL

ダート

Dirt Trial, or “Dirtora,” is a Japanese motorsport where drivers compete on unpaved surfaces such as gravel and mud in a solo time-attack format. Each car runs the course individually, with two attempts—the faster time counts. Precision and adaptability are key, as track conditions change constantly with weather and running order.

Cars are divided into classes by engine size, drivetrain, and modification level, allowing both beginners and experts to compete. Speeds can reach 180 km/h on well-prepared courses, demanding high-speed stability and sharp control. Unlike wheel-to-wheel racing, success depends on skillful handling on low-grip terrain—using slides and throttle control to maintain speed.

Events take place at dedicated dirt circuits or special venues across Japan. The sport’s accessible format and variety of vehicles make it a popular way to sharpen driving technique while delivering thrilling action for fans.
